Meet the Headteacher

Hello and welcome to The Grange Therapeutic School.

I have the pleasure of leading the Ofsted Outstanding Education Leadership team at this wonderful school.

We are a school for girls and boys aged 8-18 who have education health care plans for social, emotional and mental health challenges. This means that they may have conditions such as ADHD, OCD, PTSD, be on the autistic spectrum or have anxiety disorders.

The school has a clear aim for the pupils – we try to achieve for the pupils what we want for our own children – as the school motto says – discover potential, enjoy success and prepare for life!

The curriculum looks to meet the pupils’ academic needs through GCSEs, BTEC and Functional Skills qualifications. The outdoor programme helps them learn new skills, taste success and build their confidence – as well as enhancing their social skills. Pupils can complete their Duke of Edinburgh awards, rock climbing qualifications, bike skills awards, fisheries management qualifications and much, much more.

We do not just develop their social skills – we give them a chance to experience and vocational qualifications in areas such as motor vehicle, small animal care and construction which helps them prepare for life.

The school has a dedicated therapeutic team including a speech and language therapist , psychotherapists, educational psychologist and an occupational therapist. These professionals work closely with education, care staff and parents to support the pupils in our care.

The school has two residential houses – The Manor and The Spinney. They have a homely feel and we have a full timetable of after school activities to keep the pupils entertained and encourage social skills, build confidence and develop their independence.

If you want to visit or know more please contact the school and we would be happy to help.
