Visiting Vikings at Woollaton Hall

The whole of the Lower School visited Woollaton Hall in November for a Viking workshop to enhance and embed their current topic of ‘Anglo-Saxons and Vikings’.

Each pupil was given a Viking name that they had the opportunity to discover the meaning of. They also looked at Viking jewellery and had the chance to make a brooch. The pupils looked at some replica artefacts and were asked to discover what they were made of and what they are used for – and got to dress up as a Viking Warrior!

The workshop rounded up by taking part in a Viking death ceremony where the students learnt that a Warrior may even be buried with his favourite pet or servant!!

The pupils had a great day of learning, finished off with a lovely walk and a play in the park.
