Our Main School Nurture boys took part in a very successful afternoon of floristry with new teacher Danielle Leverton and Helayna O’Brien (Literacy and Numeracy Support). The aim of the session was for the boys to each make their own posy arrangement to take home, or pass on to someone of their choosing.
After a quick demonstration on how to build the initial shape of the posy the boys got stuck in straight away, covering their floral foam with greenery, trying to keep it symmetrical when adding their flowers.
The boys worked enthusiastically all afternoon with a clear picture in mind of what they wanted to achieve. They discussed their ideas, stood and reflected, and bargained and exchanged with one another until they all ended up with a posy they were proud of.
The work they all produced by the end of the session was absolutely fantastic – a couple of the classrooms and our Reception office were certainly made brighter and more cheerful by the results of their hard work. Who knew we had so many talented florists on our hands!
